The Shelter Should Be the Last Resourt
PVAS is the largest shelter south of San Antonio serving 4 mun and Hidalgo County. Each year we care for more than 20,000 animals — the vast majority of them strays. Our foster program is small, which means most owned pets who come through our doors spend their time in kennels. Keeping pets in homes is always the better outcome — for the pet, for the family, and for our community.

Pet Resource Center
Palm Valley Animal Society’s Pet Resource Center (PRC) helps connect pet owners with resources and guidance before surrender becomes the only option. Serving residents within our contracted cities and designated areas of unincorporated Hidalgo County.
